Major Translation Agency Specializing in Life Sciences

Project background

In May 2017, an agency client of ours shared the feedback based on evaluating our performance on a particular project over a period of 3 months. The results were nothing short of stellar: 95% or greater translation accuracy according to the LISA quality evaluation model.

We have been working with this agency that specializes in life sciences translations since 2011 and have been involved in this particular project since early 2014. It encompasses Russian medical translations, mainly in the pharmaceutical domain. Document types include summaries of product characteristics, master site files, analytical procedure descriptions, preclinical and clinical study reports, and more. Each translation task usually involves four steps on our side: translation, editing, DTP, and proofreading.

In the three years that we have been a part of this project, we became the agency’s leading vendor for that project as now confirmed by this feedback. It is especially valuable, because it is based on peer review. Fellow translators who evaluated our translations consistently acknowledged our signature commitment to dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s. After passing this rigorous test, the client made the decision to entrust us with delivering final quality, i.e., reducing or completely eliminating checks on translations we provide. Having this responsibility officially is an honor, although we always assume it anyway—for every translation we deliver.

What the client said

“I’m writing to report on your team’s English to Russian translation performance on our [major life sciences client] account. We have monitored your team’s performance closely over the past 3 months. Review of our quality data in this period indicates that your team is performing very well—with all projects meeting the requisite quality levels.

The requisite quality is defined as:

  • 95% or greater Translation Accuracy scores (using LISA QA model)
  • No critical errors.
  • No client feedback with vendor-driven errors.
  • No negative feedback from PMs.

Based on our findings, we will share this information with our PM team and encourage further prioritization on our English to Russian translation projects. Due to your team’s consistent high performance we are putting more trust in your team and will be reducing the frequency of 3rd party checks performed on your translation. Consequently, we are more dependent upon your team to continue to deliver final linguistic quality. This is critical as [files delivered by you] will be delivered [directly] to the client.

Again, I want to thank your team for your continued high performance.”
